Stannington Mixed Choir

was formed in 1987 under the leadership of the late Alvin Tipple. Since then the choir has been conducted by Mark Rotchell, Claire Woodhead and Stephen Vickers, who, in 2006 accepted the appointment of Musical Director. During both Mark and Stephen’s tenure, the choir has grown in number and experience.

 They have performed in many local venues, such as the Crucible Theatre here in Sheffield and in 2009 recorded a CD of local carols some of which  they performed at Chatsworth House, Derbyshire as part of the BBC’s Look North’s Christmas programme in the same year.  They also have been a three times winner of the Ecclesfield Choral competition.
